I've been wanting to add a Bulldog to my collection for a while and the other day in my local shop I came across an original Orlik Bulldog that was the match to the Canadian I got a few weeks ago. They make a pretty handsome pair.
Enjoy! The bulldog is one of my favorite shapes (although I prefer the bent version).
If you like bulldogs, you might also enjoy the similar Rhodesian shape. (I do, at least. ) One advantage -- if you want to think of it that way -- is that the Rhodesian has a rounded or sometimes oval shank that eliminates that "V" shape at the bottom of the bowl, which can really concentrate heat if you're not careful. Of course, that "V" is one of the things that makes the bulldog so distinctive.

On another note about bulldogs, although they may not look like it, I actually find them to be one of the more comfortable shapes in hand. Also, their thick walls make them exceptionally cool in the hand!
I haven't smoked it yet and might not for a while. I just wanted a bulldog in my collection and got a good price for the both. Right now I'm kind of hooked to my new Brighams so the bulldog will stay in its kennel. lol
Congrats on your new pipes, they are both very nice looking. I still do not own a bulldog although I do own a number of Rhodesians. I really need to add a dog to the collection one day soon. I hope both of your new pipes are great smokers for you.
Congrats on a really nice bulldog. They usually come in saddle bits, but yours with the straight tapperd bit is my favorite version. They make a fine complementary pair. Enjoy.
Showing the pictures to a non-pipe smoking friend, I got the question: "given that they're both in the same series, by the same manufacturer, made the same way, wouldn't they smoke the same, and in that case why you have two of them?" I told him they would absolutely not smoke the same, and that the bulldog would be warmer (though not in temperature ), rounder and friendlier. He looked at me as if I were crazy. Your opinions?
