Been seeking a Blowfish worthy to add to the rack both in keeping true to the traditional shape and by a maker whose pipes are considered quality smokers so I have placed this Blowfish by Former on layaway.
Fish, that's a fantastic piece. Classic blowfish with marvelous birdseye and cross grain. I am particularly enamoured of the square shank and the stummel/stem transition.
Nice pipe, friend.

Fish
I have not been a fan of the blowfish style-I thought it was too heavy looking and bulbous in the 'wrong' places that I felt a pipe should be.
These pictures show one that I could defineately own. Blowfish style, but with subtlety and grace. The square shank adds to its elegance and more 'modern' feel to the pipe.
I really hope when you get it it smokes well for you.
Congrats
Fish that is gorgeous. I love the shape. Here is a blowfish that I have had my eye on for awhile . . . must . . . resist . . .

Peck
That is another beautiful pipe. I don't know the maker, but the fit and finish look really well done.
I checked its specks and it says it weighs 64 grams. For 5 5/8inches, it seems heavy.
Do all blowfish have that kind of weight?
Blowfish do tend to be on the heavier side given the volume of briar in the stummel. Very thick walls.
Massimiliano Rimensi is, in my view, one of the top two or three artisan pipemakers in Italy.
That's a lovely pipe peck and Il Duca is a fabulous maker.
Allan my Former weighs 2.2 ozs and the Il Duca at 63 grams is the same weight so I think this would be right for a well made Blowfish, one would need to know what weight the ones by Bo Nordh and Sixten Ivarsson weighed to come to any conclusion as to how these compare weight wise but given the amount of briar used to make this shape I doubt there would be much disparity if any. Regards..........
Fish. That is gorgeous. Sometimes I see those particular shapes and the lines look muddled and confused, but that one just looks clean and confident.
Happy for you.
I'm with allan, most blowfish shapes to me are too angular. I like the softer transition lines of this one, a lot! That's enough birdseye for a whole nest!
fish, great looking blowfish, fantastic shape and really nice birdseye. Former makes some really great smoking pipes, I hope you love yours.
peck, that is some serious looking birdseye on that one, very cool looking.
