I have spent a little time learning about calabash preperation, and the only difference between what I have learned and the web article is boiling the gourds. I am not certain what the intent of boiling it is, but that outer waxy skin is removed and the innards are gutted immediately afterwards and the gourd is set out to dry. Perhaps it is about nothing more than expediancy.
I messed up this past season's gourds by picking them too early. The hard shell under the skin never got a chance to form, is my surmise.
I have the seedlings planted inside the house now. I am hoping to transfer them outside in a month or so.
I may have to form a new company, ACME Gourds.
