I have been jonesin' for a new pipe. I was wondering what the feedback is on Vauen pipes. I have been wanting a Churchwarden style for a while. I'll see if I can find a link.
This one is called a Vauen Auenland Shire Friddo Smooth
here is the link for the picture

I have been wanting a Vauen for some time. I do believe they are filter pipes(but come with an insert). I like the Fuji line. That white wash effect is cool.

I think voorhees is correct, that many or most Vauen pipes are 9 mm filter pipes, for the European market. I haven't seen the non-filter insert mentioned but that would give a choice. Vauens are supposed to enjoy the precision of German engineering and craftsmanship. Germany is one nation which is not represented in my pipe collection thought I have the usual U.S., English, Italian, French, Danish, Greek, Irish...who'd I forget. Dutch only in clay, and no Canadian made pipes yet, though several Canadian shaped pipes.

I own one Vauen pipe, it is a Sepion and no longer in the lineup which is a mystery to me since it is a fantastic smoker and not a filtered pipe, if you can find one you will be very happy, I got mine from Germany for $235 shipped, regards.

I own three vauen pipes.. And enjoy them all.. Personally they are one of my favorite factory pipes. And yes although all the ones I own are made for filters, I simply just leave them out. Mine include the Strauss set, a church warden and a billiard ...

I have the Friddo (avatar pic) and the Hugg churchwardens. They can be used with or without the filter, and both are two of my favorite pipes.

I have a Vauen dublin that's unfiltered, pre 90's but can't date it closer than that, I like it a lot. The Auenland series is quite fetching, can anybody with one say whether the briar stem separates from the bowl, or is it all one piece?

@calabashed

They do separate. A plastic tenon is attached to the bottom of the stem, and a closely color matching acrylic bit to the mouth piece.

I have only one Vauen. I wrote something on it a while ago, but can't remember when. It is just a fantastic smoking pipe. I tried using it with the filter, but find I like it best without one. It has a very shiny finish. It looks almost like it's been varnished, but it has never smoked hot or wet.

I would definitely buy another.
