I'm sure that we all have favourite tobaccos to smoke via the DGT method. I'm sure there have been others in my tobacco past, some favourites that come to mind are:
Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake

Rattrays Marlin Flake

Fribourg and Treyer Cut Virginia Plug

Mcclelland 5100

Mcclelland Dark Star

Dunhill Light Flake

G.L. Pease Telegraph Hill
Anyone else have any DGT favs?

Jacknife plug is pretty tasty when left for a day or so. Also, Pirate Kake and Mississippi Mud tend to kind of smooth out and are a little less gnarly when they sit for a few hours.

I have always found that straight Virginias work best for me as DGT tobaccos. I find that perique seems to get rediculously spicey to the point that it's too harsh for me to enjoy as DGT and Latakia based tobaccos seem to lose some of their complexity and get kind of ashy. I'm smoking a DGT bowl of Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake in a Stanwell bulldog at the moment and it is just knocking it out of the park...This is indeed one of "those" smokes.

I have a VA expert who has some blends he DGTs exclusively - he gives them a charring light then sets the pipe aside for a day. For me, VAs DGT very nicely, and light Englishes that have a lot of VA do too. However, the one time I DGTed Pirate Kake, it was a real bummer.
