I have been reading the reviews that I can find but different components for a blend make them almost impossible to compare. Leaning towards Macbaren's Latakia Flake. Anyone with experience of multiple blends have an opinion?
I think Mac Baren Latakia Flake is great, a good place to start, and then you can figure out if you want something more pungeant, or spicier, or sweeter or what.
Penzance, C&D Black Frigate(plug) and SPC's Mississippi River
I would like to try Butera's royal vintage #1 and #2, Robert McConnell's latakia flake, C&D's star of the east flake and McClelland's blakney's toasted latakia flake.
I guess I have to go with Penzance even though it seems more like a crumble cake flake, but I have some SoE flake and Quiet Nights that I have to crack open and try once it gets slightly warmer. I've had Brebbia #9 which I did not like the flavor of too much, and Special Latakia Flake, which was irritating to deal with, and I also was not crazy about the flavor either. ::
I really enjoy the following;
SG's Winter Time Flake
Cornell & Diehl: Star of the East Flake
G. L. Pease: Sextant
Low Country: Cooper
Esoterica: Penzance
