... smoked Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic.
I honestly think that specifically SWRA has something that just never goes away in pipes. My experience is that most of them were used for aromatics, and that goopy sweet smells works its way deep into the pores of the briar, ruining it for most other blends without some esteem exorcism.
yes Latakia ghost to me is the worst.. it makes all tobacco taste salty, smoky, and horrible.I've gotten a few that were ghosted so badly with Latakia that they were close to an ammonia smell.

For the welfare of all of humanity, it is required that if you get any pipes with a cherry or a lakeland ghost , that you immediately crush that pipe with the heal of your boot.Is there any method of removing the foulness? Or is it just so permeated that it cannot be done?
I get the internals of the pipe wet with water and fill up the chamber and shank with table salt.Is there any method of removing the foulness? Or is it just so permeated that it cannot be done?
I have a 60's Dunhill straight billiard that I hoped would make a great VA only pipe because of it's size. It is so heavily ghosted with Latakia that it's only good for English blends.
Ghosts can be fairly easily removed and the pipe returned to a neutral flavor.Well now I know, thanks for stopping me from getting all excited at the prospect of making a bad estate purchase.
