If there is a European or foreign-made pipe or tobacco already in stock at SmokingPipes.com stateside that you have been looking at, my suggestion is to pick it up now, because it does not look like, in the short term at least, imported pipes or tobaccos are going to get any cheaper.

This is an apolitical post, not about the wisdom of tariffs. It is what it is.

You can probably still get pipes from the EU under the de minimus exemption (imports to individual uner 800 value). Shops in the US that import shipments of pipes will have to pay taxes.

Im not positive but Im pretty sure of this. Time will tell but if you are shopping them in the US you are correct. Get it while you can.

The exemption is ending for packages from China. So far not Europe.

well no matter what you do in life there are consequences. It's all about weighing what's most important. And one thing that's always true is any increase in cost of business is probably going to be passed on to the consumer. Love how sometimes a business will tell you that they're passing the savings on to you, but never seen an ad that said we're passing the costs on to you.

wait does that mean I won't have to see the cheap shit people buy from temu and then brag about how little it cost them, while I think yeah that looks very bargain basement quality. Well that's something to look forward to.
Sorry I work with a few chaps that are addicted to buying stupid pointless gadgets from temu.

They wont brag that it was AS cheap

I dont use temu but I do use ali express. Mostly because half the stuff on Amazon in the EU is the same product but double the price.

Some of the products are pretty good, some trash. You have to shop carefully. I didnt so much in the US but here it can be difficult to even find certain products.

I've always been amazed at how Americans hold EU stuff in such high regards, but yet when I go to Europe, everyone seems to hold USA stuff in high regard. I'm happy with USA tobaccos. We have some good pipemakers, but we are lacking in the American factory made pipes category. I just can't stomach any of them ugly pipes that Briar Lee seems to think are good. Maybe we can get Laudsis to move Savinelli over here. puffy

But for their hard acrylic stems and often uncomfortable large buttons, I would be happy to smoke nothing other than Italian pipes like Castello and Cavicchi with the quality aged briar they use. Lately, with the continued growth and refinement of the American artisan pipe market and its re-adoption of ebonite, I’ve been very satisfied shopping domestically for new pipes.
