I just purchased this beauty from a guy living in Portugal. He is not a renown pipe maker, but has already produced a few pipes so far worth having. This particular one has been made out of a plateaux block, it is a straight grain as you can see, and flawless as far as I can tell. It has two rings, black acrylic and palm tree wood. Here are the specks:
Length - 145 mms / 5.7''

Height - 53 mms / 2.08''

Chamber Diameter - 22 mms / 0.86''

Chamber Height - 43 mms / 1.69''

Weight - 48 gram
I am posting this for one particular reason. Had this pipe been made by Peterson or Stanwell, just to quote a few pipe makers of prestige, it would have cost a fortune. I am not going to say how much I have paid for this one as I might sell it in the end, but sometimes, I think it is worth looking around for bargains. At the end of the day, what should matter, is the quality of the product and not the name they stamp on it. I honestly believe this is a steal and I wanted to share it with you all.

That is one beautiful pipe. That straight grain really catches the eye and the black palm is a nice accent. I have a custom pipe with palm and it really sets the pipe apart from the standard fare. Good luck with it and enjoy many bowls.

Sometimes, often in the world of pipes, the "names" are the names for a reason. I can't imagine anyone would argue that beautiful pipes can be found for reasonable money. Conversely exceptional ones are had for exceptional money. Tis the way the world turns ;)

How'd you find a guy in Portugal? Beautiful pipe!!

I'm trying Gigger.... But bachelorhood in your 40's is, for the most part, quite sad and pathetic. I'm trying hard to shine a light on the positive aspects in an effort to not be sad/pathetic ;).

I have no wife, no kids, no family of my own, but check out my beautiful pipe!! See what I mean?

Nate, you also don't have to hear a house full of kids screaming all the time. Jorge, does that pipemaker sell online?

No, he does not sell online. You need to know him to be able to buy from him.
The same goes for other few pipe makers I know of, let´s say for instance Ian Walker (Northern Briars), David Obrer (Bruken Pipes), etc.

Davorin Denovic is like that with commissions. Otherwise, there are a couple of sites he sells to.

I know most of the Spanish pipe makers, and they all ask you to buy from the shop or distributor. Do you know Pipes Martin?
