The Euro is now under $1.17. This is the time to buy pipes you want directly from European dealers. American vendors will hold their prices and profit excessively. But if you pay a European dealer in dollars, you automatically get the benefits of a lower Euro. I recommend Alpascia and James Barber.

Of course it went down after the Swiss Central Bank pulled out. I could see this coming last week when the news broke out.

I don't know that one is saving, just spending a bit less. Still, the rate is a bit better. I wonder if it will hold up until I get back to Ireland and England? I actually think the Euro might slip even lower. The US is recovering a bit, even though most of us don't feel it yet. So a bit more slide with some growth of the dollar and I might spend a bit less to get more.

I just ordered three pipes from Alpascia. You never can buy on the dip. That's my investment advice for the day. Two Ser Jacopo's and a Meer. Hopefully they won't be on a slow boat. Looking forward to my first meer.

Expecting it at $1.08 within 3 months
I agree ... the ECB's are going to start their own version of QE any day now.
The Swiss NOT telling the "Bankster Cartel" that they were going to do it pleased me immensely!

Draghi has promised a round of QE worth more than 1 trillion to buy sovereign debt, so I guess this is a good time to go short on the Euro. The idea behind it is to stimulate exports, boost the economy and provide the market with liquidity. The problem here is not to let the chicks out, but when they come back home to roost.

It's a double edged sword, really.
The currency wars are on in full force and everyone is looking to export deflation elsewhere.
Bubbles are formed in multiple sectors and will have to "pop" sooner or later.
Delaying the inevitable will only make it more painful.
In the meantime ... enjoy the strong US Dollar for imported items!

Well, I never said I agreed with it. This is idiotic monetary policy at its best. If the market does not provide with that liquidity to buy those bonds, because it is not willing to take any risks, or because of the lack of attractive interest rates, so be it. Deflation is not a bad a thing as it lowers prices down and adjusts the monetary base to the consumer's preferences.

That really depends upon the cause.
In the case of stagnate wages and high unemployment, it can be dangerous.
We are seeing lower prices on luxury (imported) items but increases in food, healthcare, education, etc.
Printing more paper will only be another temporary band-aid.
I tend to look at macro trends more than the short term games being played.
The fact of the matter is that there are more "zeros" out there in "Bangkster Land" than ever before.
Meanwhile, the Velocity is at all time lows ... sounds pretty bad.
...don't even get me started about the insanely over-leveraged derivatives market.

Yes but still at 1.5 to 1. If it were at 1 to 1 dunhills and others would be cheap. Hey my northern briars would only be 280.00 for both lol. Here's hoping it goes down more by march.

I put my order in to James Fox of Dublin for Velvan and Warrior Plugs. Hope to get it next week. The euro stabilized this morning after the Central European Bank announced it QE plan. We'll have to see how it settles out over the next week or two.

Jorge, I agree with you but that's a macro-economic issue. We're being wise shoppers with a micro view. Things will reverse over time so it's our time to buy European.

From a micro point a view I don't agree either as I will be needing more GBPs to buy stuff in the US. I live in the UK.
