I been collecting Neerups for the last few years, and every time I see one of these and click on them thinking there must be a new Neerup out, it ends up being an Erik Stokkebye. From the shapes, stains, and even the bits of metalwork on the stems, they look like they rolled off the same workbench. I tried to do a pipedia and a Google search to find out more about these Stokkebye pipes, but to no avail. I suppose that if a retailer tells me that Erik has "been working with" Peder Jeppesen, that it would translate to Peder doing the work? Ha ha... if push came to pull?

Either way, being in love with everything about the shape, color, and designs of Neerups, I definitely love the Stokkebye pipes also.

I know, I know, people always have a hard time trying to tell if I am complimenting or dissing something. So, to make sure that I am absolutely clear, brush up on your understanding of the language before you accuse me of dissing. puffy

I've met and conversed with Erik a few years ago, and he's a nice guy. He seemed more the business man than the artsy type, but you can't always tell by the book whether the movie will suck, ha ha.

Anyways...

They are not traditional Danish design, IMO. But, they all look to be straight out of Peder's imagination, which has qualities of Danish style. Anyways, I was just wondering of anyone else has noticed this.

How did you come by this information. I haven't seen any of his pipes that resemble Eltang's work. Maybe an earlier release that has all sold out or something? Just curious.

Hell, I hear all sorts of rumors at pipe shows about Eltang not even making Eltangs.
I mean eltangs shop not him personally.

I'm mostly wondering if anyone notices the same thing I do in the actual objects, not necessarily the jibber jabber. puffy
If Eltang is copying Peder's designs for Erik's brand... that just makes my head hurt.
No I mean the non POTY regular line pipes Neerup and the special edition POTY eltang.

The look is so totally Neerup. The big cylindrical bowl and the slender stem and the fancy metal band work. I thought the Neerup origin was a given.
I'm going to have to get one now, just to get it in hand to study them. Like I said, I love the designs, but as you say, looks totally Neerup.

Stumbled upon this blogpost on tobaccoreviews.com that confirms that it is indeed Peder Jeppesens (Neerup) work. And that earlier generations of Stokkebyes commissioned pipes from other pipemakers in limited series to honor their Danish heritage. This was 2013 though so does not explain the 2015 Eltang, interesting read nevertheless.

Awesome!! And, to make it even more of a connection (for me...) I was at the Briary when they met. I was new to pipes, and helping Skip at the time by volunteering to photograph and write the descriptions of new pipes for his website. I had no idea that this was brewing at the time.
Thanks!!
