I was able to get in on 4nog's recent supply of Penzance, and so recently received a bag.
Got home, slid out that nifty little tray, and quite filled the bail-top Mason jar I use for storing Penzance.
While waiting for a pipeload to dry a bit on my tray, I surveyed my shelves and said, "Enough."
15 pipes, with 12 in regular rotation. A big jar of FMOTT. A fresh eight ounces of Penzance. About a dozen assorted tins, most opened and sampled. A full cup of cleaners. Plenty of fuel for the Xikar.
For the moment at least -- enough. Not feeling any PAD or TAD impulses, thinking I'm good to go right up to about Christmas time -- when my poor family will need to be able to figure out SOMETHING to get me.

Well, I'm feeling the PAD & TAD quite strongly now, myself. I'm thinking what next, when can I fit it into the budget, and stay off eBay! LOL. It's a grand thing to fall in love with, this hobby, ain't it?

I said that too after finally buying myself a churchwarden, a Peterson Dublin in Racing Green. I smoked it a few times confirming that yes indeedy I liked churchwardens (it was my first). But the fact that the bowl opened away from me bugged me a little. Then I saw the Peterson Bent Dublin Ebony Churchwarden (D6) Fishtail on smokingpipes.com. Now if I had seen this one before the Racing Green one I probably would have bought that instead.
But I kept hemming and hawwing before saying f' it. I bought it and love it. So now I have 7 pipes, 2 of which are the above two churchwardens, which works out because I now have enough to do a aromatics/English blends split for my pipes!
And after buying the ebony I again said, I'm done...part of my brain believes me, the other side calls BS.

There is never such a thing as too much when it comes to pipes or pipe tobacco. Good luck with your abstaining there, sir.

Hey, whoa. Said NOTHING about abstaining. Abstaining!?
Just said, ya know, enough for now. Just feeling sorta contented is all.
(Dang, y'all are a skeptical bunch.)

You're abstaining from purchasing pipes or tobacco for a few months. Don't fight the urge. GIVE IN I SAY!

I should also add to my post and say that though being content is great, truly a very nice place to be. With some things, the opposite is the birthplace of adventure and excitement. Which is better!

It's never enough, I think you'll give in when someone announces online "specials" or "clearance" on tobacco! :D

But good luck!

I remember making a resolution like that about 25 pipes and a hundred tins or so back. I have acquired 6 pipes and 41 tins of tobacco since January first. Good luck, my friend.
