Hi,

i got an order yesterday of 2 tins, one of them was Ennerdale, i heard so much about it that i had to give it a shot.

When you open the tin and smell the tobacco, its quite intense, very floral/soapy at a point.

I smoked my first bowl of it yesterday and i had higher hopes for it in terms of flavor.

The flavor is very minimal.

It taste what it smell like in the tin but in a very light way.

If you run the pipe on the hot side you wont get the flavor, you need to take light puffs to taste it.

If you expect that big punch of floral/soapy taste you will be a bit dissapointed.

I will buy it again for sure, its a good tobacco IMO.

I still haven't tried these Floral/Soapy blends yet, but I can't wait.
This sounds like a good light one to try first. Thanks for the heads up!

Ennerdale also gets my seal of approval. Not nearly so "soapy" as Grousemoor (which I also like) with some fine flavours in there. A darn good smoke.

I fell in love with Ennerdale right from the first sip. It generates a lot of love or hate reactions on the web, which is why I was curious to try it when I found some recently. Almond, citrus and floral undertones wash over the palate like a warm mineral bath. It's one of the few blends I look forward to smoking no matter what time of day it is.

But i noticed something today, i packed my pipe with another tobacco, and there was the Ennerdale ghost.

Some of the Lakeland blends can certainly ghost a pipe and Ennerdale is one of the strongest ghosters of them all. Now I do like the Lakeland tobaccos even some of the floral, soapy French whore perfumed blends, but after trying a 1 oz sample of Ennerdale in 2 different pipes, I decided that it was not for me. One of those pipes has since gone the way of the dodo, but I still have the other. I smoked roughly a half ounce of Ennerdale in the pipe and that was roughly 10 years ago. Till this day I can still taste Ennerdale at the end of a bowl in that pipe. It doesn't show up till the very end of the bowl now, but it always shows up. I have never really actively tried to exorcise this ghost other than smoking 10 years worth of Virginia, Virginia/perique and the occasional mild aromatic in it. Still shocks me every time it shows up.

I know the smell brownbilliard and think it's a perfect way to describe the Lakeland perfume.

I tried a blend called Ennerdale but I thought it was a Gawith/Hoggarth blend, no? Came in a green and white tin, I remember. I picked it up at the original Tinderbox store in Santa Monica a number of years back, along with a Tilshead stacked billiard. I remember it was a very good flake, and I like it a lot. I never got any more, but several years later that Tilshead still tatses of Ennerdale.

I loved Ennerdale from the first bowl. The floral/citrus flavor is nowhere near as strong in the bowl as in the tin note, but I think it's designed that way. I mainly taste very high-quality VAS with just enough flavoring to keep it from getting boring. If you want to try a similar blend where you taste the flavoring with roughly the same intensity that you smell it, I'd suggest Kendal Flake.
