Enjoying My Peterson's Old Dublin Tobacco but...

I was enjoying my pipe with the recent tobacco I bought which was Peterson's old dublin but I started to feel a pain in my thorat which went away after a few minutes of my smoke, Can anyone tell me what was the reason?
P.S: However the whole experience was wholesome and I enjoyed the tobacco.

Smoke is not something your body wants from the get go. You have to make it want it.

Were you drawing hard while lighting? You can feel that hot steam hit the back of your throat for a sudden flash of pain.

Never experienced a blend to be the cause, chemically. Although have had some harsh ones.
