I’m looking to transition my Missouri Meerschaum Cobs from acrylic/plastic stems to soft ebonite/vulcanite for a more comfortable feel.

I just reached out to Rich @ Briarville for his thoughts and am waiting for response. I’m pretty sure he can do the work. Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to go in case he’s not a fit for the work? How much should an ebonite/vulcanite stem cost for say my Emerald MM cob?

Dave,

On Rich’s site it lists Standard Shape Vulcanite Replacement at $30 which I assume is taking a blank stem and fitting it to your pipe so I’m thinking that’s the cost. I’ve only had a couple of blank vulcanite stems and haven’t loved them but also haven’t hated them. Hand cut stems from rod are listed as $100.

I thought I hated my cobs until I went back to the plastic, unfiltered stems. I realized I just hate the forever stems (as I love the acrylic stems I have from rustiepyles) because the bite zone is so bulky.

Thanks,
I looked over his pricing but wasn’t sure if it was $30 or $100 listed? Forever Stems have become to bulky your right as I’ve developed into a patient clencher.

I may have to pony up the 100$ per stem if I want best comfort. 😊
Thanks again man! 👍☕

You’re welcome! I think you can ask him to work the blank to get the bite zone that you want.

I don’t know if they’ve gotten bulkier because I have one from Walker from 10 years ago and it hate it just as much 😅

I’d love vulcanite stems for my cobs. I do not like acrylic at all.
Please share what Rich has to say. It would be awesome if someone made them that could just be ordered from stock on hand.
