eBay listing
Not had much luck on EBay in the past, with my bid being beaten at the last few seconds.

This group of pipes and tobacco jar was in the wrong category.

It should have been under estate pipes.

She listed it under Vintage tobacco jars.

I wanted a tobacco jar so looked on eBay. I realised not many people would see the listing.

She wanted £10 starting bid with £2.90 postage.

She would not take my offer of £8.00 + postage.
So made a bid of £10.00 + postage.
I got a handmade copper tobacco jar.

A Falcon straight pipe with AN4 on the bottom, made in England, bowl burnt round top badly.

A Peterson Plip, with lose stem, see my posting. Lightly smoked.
All in all a good purchase for £12.90
Slight problem getting it posted to me, think they wanted more. But it came in the end.

You did very well, might want to make a pot of strong black coffee and soak a coarse rag in it then remove the bowl from the Falcon and have at it on that top. You may be pleasantly surprised to find the top is carbonized and it will come off with some aggressive rubbing with the rag. You might need to do it a few times then let it dry whilst you clean the body up and get it ready for smoking, cheers.

Congratulations! That's quite a fantastic deal! I love the hammered copper tobacco jar. I recently won an English eBay auction for a vintage coopered snuff barrel with brass bands which I will use as a tobacco jar and I paid less than I would have thought it would cost to ship -- about $20 US.

Yes, I agree, nice catch there. Please do show us the results of your efforts in cleanup too.

Very nice find on eBay. I've never won a bid yet and it sometimes seems the only way to do it is by finding something no one else has noticed.
