The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has issued an invitation to hunt and fish and eat invasive species of animals that are harming our environment. Has anyone tried any of these delicacies yet ???

" .... so you’re not just getting a great meal, you’re doing conservation work with every bite."

Maybe Iguana try some ...

My children always call catfish “company fish”.

Growing up, Ozark Americans would eat shad, gar, drum and carp when nothing better was caught, but catfish was company fish, the only kind you feed company.:)

I did eat a little coon once, but only the only people I knew that ate possum were Arkansawyers.:)

I certainly don't want the thread to get political but it did surprise me that a gov't agency was saying 'Hey, help us out here and hunt and fish these' ... I don't recall seeing that before but then I am not a hunter or fisherman ... yet ! 🤔 I was also surprised the Burmese python wasn't on the list but maybe they aren't edible ???

Ive seen a lot of uglier fish and seafood than the Snake head.

Boar is alright if done properly.

I have also heard that carp was good but you have to work around the bones.
They lied to you.

Carp needs several cases of Old Milwaukee plus a half gallon of Old Crow added to the crowd before the carp is ready to eat.:)

And wild boar has trichinosis.

Maybe Arkansawers would serve possum and wild boar, I have no idea.:)

Crappie and bluegill (or other perch fish) are reserved for your family. They are highly prized.

Catfish is company fish.:)

Eat more Nutria.
The Nutria is very misunderstood and under valued animal.
Yes, it does look like a wet rat but the nutria is a vegetarian. Its primary food source is the roots of live plants in the marsh which is one of the reason there is a bounty on them in Louisiana.
Nutria meat is leaner with a lower fat content and lower in cholesterol compared to ground beef. People in Louisiana have trapped and consumed nutria meat for decades. (I have eaten nutria prepared several different ways by professional chefs and wild game processors.

Sing one Charlie Pride!

Muskrat hides a hangin' by the dozen even got a lady make a muskrat's cousin

Mama and I got down the World Book M and soon figured out that it was a Nutria.

Mama argued that he had a lady cook a nutria and I held out and said it’s Cajun talk for

Even got a little bitty muskrat’s cousin (drying with the muskrats).

Then we looked over at Daddy and he was crying

And we said what’s wrong, Daddy.

He said, I’m so proud of my familee.

And he came over and hugged us both so hard I thought we’d near bust.

If I’m not a good man it’s impossible to blame how my parents raised me a half mile South of Bug Tussle.
