One or two of the reviews I read concerning SPC blends mentioned that the 8 ounce "tins" may not be good for long term storage. Are they cardboard based? I haven't dissected one yet but it looks like cardboard with foil inside and out.
Since I have a boat load of this stuff now, what precautions need I take? Jar or leave sealed? Seal unopened tins in mylar? Encase in concrete for posterity?
Thanks.

I say those tins last at least eight years. That is my experience. The tobacco inside is still moist when I opened tins of that vintage, and the tins show no signs of being compromised. How much longer they could last, I dunno.

Thanks, Jim.
On that note, has anyone aged Potlatch, or other SPC blends, and what was the result?
(Especially the 8 ounce ones)

Yes - Thanks for the info. I've been wondering the same. I'm a newer pipe smoker but have found that Mississippi River is one of my favorites. I recently picked up an 8 oz tin of that and Potlatch. I'll probably leave an 8 oz in the tin now. Looking forward to hearing about how they age from a flavor and complexity perspective.
