This 1969 CK Bruyere was a recent addition, via the EstatePipeShop.uk (Dean). I found my first CK ('71 Shell) two years ago. Shipping from the UK took longer than usual (increased FDA scrutiny?) but it arrived today.
Dean does a great job on his restorations, but I always enjoy putting my own touches on a pipe. This one had some handling marks that I was able to steam out. The stem had a little gap at the 6 o'clock position, I fixed that as well. There was one dent on the bottom of the button and some heat lifted that out nicely. I always put a final polish using Meguiars Plastic Polish on all of my vulcanite stems. I think it gives an even deeper shine and more importantly, seems to inhibit oxidation.
I'm out of town this evening, so I can't compare the two pipes. But, the '71 Shell seems to be a true Author while the new '69 is more of a Rhodesian?
