I recently acquired a 1970 Dunhill “shell briar” billiard that has all the text I would expect (I’ve been collecting Dunhills for over 40 years). But new to me is the marking “6 LBS”. Does anyone have any idea what this means or signifies? I can assure you, it does not weigh six pounds!

Then why are we bother with shrimp pipes? nnnn

Seriously, it could mean that the pipe is a group 6, although I would think not only because most LBS that I have seen (and I own one) have a 4 in a circle. Would you mind posting a photo of that?

Check out this page regarding LBS and LBS and numbers.

My 1954 bent Shellbriar is a 656 group 4 bowl. Yup, it's a saddle stem! I'm smoking it right now. The stummel is surprisingly svelte, or, has no excess wood to make its shape and feels really nice. It's light as a feather too.
I do have a few other bent pipes (billiard) that are AS svelte, but not able to pass a cleaner so I tend to smoke them in spurts when I have the inclination to clean them afterward. I have two MasterCraft in particular that I do enjoy. My Barling will pass a cleaner but its button isn't to my liking.
