As most of you know, the midwest, where I live, is under the grip of a hellacious heat wave and the humidity here has been off the charts. I have tried to dry tobacco in my living room and I let it sit out for hours on end, but when I go to check it, the stuff has not dried in the slightest. I think this is due to the high amount of humidity in the air. Anyone know how I can achieve some good drying in this weather? I have tried to dry MacBarens Symphony, Cornell and Diehl Epiphany, and Balkan Sasieni, all tobaccos that are not heavily cased or goopy, as far as I know. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks!

The weather you speak of is familiar to me....We don't have the high heat here in Hilo but we live in the wettest town in the USA. I use silica dessicants routinely. If you are interested in the details, just drop me a PM.

Aloha!

If you have a halogen or heat lamp (like the kind they use for lizards or in workshops) setting the pipe under it for a while should dry it sufficiently. I have a halogen for my doves and that thing will evaporate half their water bowl in just a few hours.
