Last year I purchased a little Peterson No. 127 and it's a nice little pipe, but it convinced me there must be a way to find a compact, yet more substantial bent Dublin. After receiving the beautiful chubby apple from @doug535, I mentioned an interest in something along those lines and next thing I knew, sketches and ideas and I've now received a little bent Dublin that is perfect to me.
I was looking for something an Irish farmer might carry, but a little more rugged and longer lasting bowl, etc. and didn't think a spigot was the answer. So here it is! I'm 2/3 of the way through its initial bowl and enjoying some aged Deep Hollow, seems a perfect pipe for flakes and flake-ish Virginias and man, it performs.
It's just over 5 1/2" long but a substantial, and well designed bowl. Chamber is .82 x 1.96 inches, perfectly conical and just relit for the first time to enjoy the rest of it. The blast is a little "rugged", as desired (won't be slipping out of the farmer's hand), and the color is just what I had hoped for, sort of a whiskey/ale look to it. Black ebonite stem I'm really trying hard not to bite, and really not hard because the stem is so well done and clenches great. The mount is silver, so we'll assume it was a thoughtful gift from the landlord, or the farmer/tenant was thrifty or . . . not necessarily a tenant!
I'm no pipe expert, but just wanted to throw some well-deserved compliments to a forum carver.
