its marked as a Savinelli pipe. Made in Italy. "Sherwood Rock Briar."
it looks in ok shape from the pics, maybe a bit scorched on the lip of the bowl...
the other one is 20 for a lot of 5 pipes, a pipe rack, and a jar to hold tobacco. 4 of the pipes are briar wood, and one is a corncob. but some look pretty rough... what do you guys think?

A pipe shows it's major signs of use on the bit (where people tend to chew) and in the interior of the chamber.
None of those pictures show the interior chamber so it's hard to say.
Savinelli makes a good pipe, but I'd say you're more likely to have at least a few good smokeable pipes in that set with the rack and jar.
Although I see one of the pipes in that rack has been chewed up to the point where I wouldn't smoke it, personally.

I would go for the collection myself. Cleaned up and maybe a sten replacement you just might have a few good smokers.

If it cleans up well and desnt have any burnouts, enything else is fixable. Just about any briar obtained for under 25 is a great deal if you can smoke it! The combined cost or a rack and jar and 4 pipes would be about $200 American, and thats conservative, at $25.00 a peice for low end pipes. I think you did quite well there, and a little elbow grease should leave you with a fine little collection.

Up to what you it is your after baronc.

Either the single Sherwood or the those in the lot will require some elbow grease.
The Savinelli track record for me is such that barring unseen damage I'd bet the Sherwood would be a great pipe once cleaned.

The bulldog that appears to be a Dr.G in the set has a large chunk gone from the button of the stem, one of the billiards looks like it might have a hole in it's stem and of course the jar is not original to the rack.
If your looking for a quick herd builder, the lot.

A decent pipe, the Sherwood.

Pricing seems more than reasonable on either.

I have a Savinelli similar to the the one pictured. It's not the worlds greatest smoker. It's not bad though. If it's in decent shape it's well worth the price.

I'd take the Savinelli in a minute for that price. I can't tell how deep the rim scorching goes, but it may need nothing more than a Q-Tip and a little saliva. If the scorch goes into the wood, I've had very good results with rim-burned estate pipes by sanding the rim with fine grained sandpaper and then using brown paste shoe polish over the bare wood.
