Hmm, Va no 1 bites fr me only sometimes, seems more timid in a bigger pipe, not sure why, Ive just noticed it.
Also, It bites much more if you rib it out more, I now just shove it in as is and light and smoke slow, It actually is really good if you do that.
Hal o the Wynd, bites if provoked, but is smooth otherwise

I like to add a touch of perique to my Virginia tobaccos. Seems to smooth em down a bit.

I just gave a tin of this away to a friend of mine last night. I had a handful of bowls and really didn't care for it. Not sure if I'm just not a VAPer fan but also read there's a bit of burley and I wonder if that might have been the turnoff.
Nevertheless I didn't find any bite to it as I smoked it. I did let it dry a few minutes as the tobacco seemed a little moist but that was all.

HOTW does not bite for me. As recommended above use a large pipe, and smoke slowly. A good charring light that leaves the entire top of the tobacco charred followed by a good 10 minute wait will enhance the flavor, and let the leaf burn easier. The larger pipe allows for the smoke to travel through the slowly drying, and burning blend imparting the taste of the leaf to the smoke. This also allows for more surface area, and IMO a cooler smoke. Slow is the word with this or any Virginia blend, but the reward is amazing. My favorite Virginia blend by far, enjoy!

I find most Mcbite blends bite me, just not the bacci for me, I do have a

few of their blends like Vintage V, Highland blend, Dark Twist, Navy and

Vintage Syrian in the cellar doing time :) to come back to some day
Mix'in in some black cav seems to calm down anything for me, I like

Brazilian black cav someone sent me, a great/sweetness to it

Excellent advice. You have to smoke Virginias s-l-o-w-l-y. Don't try to "tame it" by putting stuff in it - learn how to smoke them slowly. HotW is an excellent blend that should not be screwed up by adding something like BCA, IMO. :puffy:

HOTW is an excellent smoke, and I've never really had any bite from it, but like the oters have said, you haave to sip it slowly.
