Does Anyone Know Anything About "American Briar"?

I have a nice little pipe that has very good grain almost flame grain. It has a dark finish and a sterling band.

left side is marked "DASCO" and right side is marked "American Briar" I picked it up in Tenn. probably 50 years ago at an estate auction. Has anyone heard or rune across a Dasco pipe or any pipe marked "american briar"? Could this be one of the pipes made during WWII when briar from Europe was unobtainable? It smokes great.

Seems like I have seen that brand,Ebay maybe. I'd say it most likely is a WW2 era pipe with that stamping.
