I won this last night for about 100$

i figured out what the hell, chinese pipes are selling for 40$ in tobacco shops in Australia so its cool to have a 1977 de paja for 100$

Beautiful hunk of briar. Very nice score. Doesn't sound that high to me.

That flame grain is very nice. Given the condition and grade I'd say you've done well. They are very good pipes and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Happy smoke rings.

I like the looks of the de pajal line, but I'm not much of a student of the estate market. I'd guess that was a fair price.

The pipe looks in good shape, and that's some impressive grain. It's a good traditional design.

looks like a nice pipe, you could have paid more than a 100 and still made out

More than lucky Matt, very beautiful grain, very nice condition, don't let a thick cake build up. Keep it reamed to a cake about a quarter of a centimetre max even a bit less. A thin cake keeps the pipe in good condition. I got a Castleford T-handle Pipe Reamer Set from 4noggins for $20 USD and it's great. I won't ream a pipe until it has a thick cake, depending on usage it would take months so will only need doing 1-2 times a year (usage depending) .. I could lend you my reamer if you ever have a few pipes need doing. Otherwise just follow the maintenance these more experienced guys give in the maintenance section of the forum..
Great score mate, you did really well, good to see you getting a great pipe ..
