I tend to keep empty mason jars after I finish a blend for the same blend later on.

Do you do the same, or do you put different blends in after you finish a jar?

I do. If I am going to stash a blend, I use a fresh one, but for sonething I'll be actively smoking I will re-use a jar that had been used for something similar. I find a good wipe with a paper towel removes sediment and odor.

I hand wash, but if they are similar enough I just place a new blend right in without a wash

I just wipe them out with a dry paper towel.. removes any residual tobacco dust.

Dishwasher then an extra rinse. To me, if this process is good enough for reusing jars for canning, then it's good enough for tobacco.
+1

My wife buys jam from the farmer's market and I will re-use those mason jars for my tobacco after I wash them in the dishwasher.

hand wash with antibacterial detergent, dry, and reuse with whatever blend i'm opening. if i feel like doing all that.

typically have two va/va/per and two english/balkan open, so replace with same type of blends.

I use each jar once, after the tobacco is gone, the jar goes in the bin. Tobacco is too expensive to risk mold etc. on washing out a jar. The Ball jars are a dollar or so each, compared to the price of a tin, that’s cheap insurance.

If I smoked intense ghosting blends, which I think of as Lakeland aromatics, I'd have a cleansing ritual including burning incense and chanting, but since I don't, I'm Cavalier about it. Usually I'll wash out a jar, but sometimes I don't bother. I've never noticed any residual scent or flavor residing in the glass.

I only transfer to jars when I’m opening a tin for smoking, so I’m not so concerned with the long term storage for aging.

I have in the past kept an empty jar if I knew I was going to smoke that blend again, e.g. Escudo.

I’m just about to finish a jar of Virginia tobacco and I was just wondering if anyone worried about putting the same type of blend in.

I’ll probably wipe it out and just fill it with another Virginia blend.
