Just curious to know if you guys prefer single tins vs an 8oz can or bulk option. It seems that you get a whole tins worth "free" if you buy in an 8oz tub, and 2 full "free" tins if you opt for the 1lb boxes. I go for the bulk everytime for the extra "free tobacco". I don't mind all the mason jars. What do you guys prefer?

I will always buy bulk when available. I would have 50x's as many GLP blends if I wasn't constricted to only buying tins. For now, I just keep a few tins of each of his blends on hand, while I buy other things by three to five pound intervals. And, my experience with trying to re-jar the bulk GLP tins of his blends was not so good. It may not have been an inherent problem of his large tins or the tobacco, but it was enough to sway me away from doing it again.

And, having a pound sized tin that I am waiting years to pop is just stupid. Once I do pop the tin of an aged blend, I've only got a window of a few weeks to enjoy it, before it's just humdrum crap. And, this I just know from experience with aged tobaccos.

I mean, I do keep many, many tins of things I really like that there is no bulk option for, but I'll never have as many tins as I do jars.

YMMV

Generally bulk, then transfer to small 4oz Mason or Atlas jars, wide mouth lids. They usually hold 2oz, no rust worries, and can be resealed. Once opened, I mark them as such & date opened.

only blend I prefer in tins is Penzance.

It depends on availability and the particular tobacco. Some of the really good GH blends aren't available in tins. And some tobaccos, like ODF for example, are better tasting in bulk.

Bulk whenever it is available then break it down into 6 to 8 oz jars. When I first started I was putting 1 to 2 pounds of tobacco in the same jar. I still haven't put them in smaller jars. Lazy I guess or I just like the way all 1/2 gallon jars look lined up.

I also like bulk when available. However a lot blends are only in tins. Tins store well. When I get a tin, I take out a sharpie pen and write the date on the underside and throw it in the cellar.

I think a fair assortment of both is nice for a "complete" cellar ...I really like storing up bulk jars though -it's also been fun over time to see how some of the blends I have stored age after even just a year. Chances are there is a good bulk version of stuff you like to smoke, makes too much economical sense not to stock up!
