Do We Need A Pitney Bowes Sticky?

New piper guy here. I feel like there should be a sticky warning everyone not to ever buy a pipe shipped via Pitney Bowes and the Ebay global shipping program. I know I won't make that mistake ever again.

Make sure your sellers are not using Pitney Bowes for anything tobacco related!

They've come up here before, various horror stories. Lost and missing pipes were ending up with a dodgy eBay vendor based in Alton, Hampshire, iirc, and being sold again.

Pitney Bowes is a company that builds and sells postage meters, shipping meters, etc. that apply the postage for a package that ships through the USPS, UPS, etc. They don't actually ship or move anything.

If you parcel is lost it is not due to the postage meter that placed the postal rate on the package.

eBay Global Shipping is a non starter for me. Too much chicanery involved. If the seller insists on using it, I move on.

Well, I stand corrected and learned something in the process.

I actually worked for PB from 1981 through the mid-nineties, at which time our division spun off and merged with another company. They had no such involvement in these things at that time, but I did know that they had diversified and changed their business direction massively when ePostage came about and email and electronic communications devastated their market.
