I've heard that they come pre-carbonized and it leaves a ghosting.
I'm finding them very cheap and it seems like a good replacement for my cursed Savinelli because of the looks and cost.
In the case it comes with the ghosting, what do you guys do to remove it?

If you're worried about a bowl coating tasting bad then carefully use some sandpaper to remove it, personally I'd spend my time doing something far more productive like filling the pipe with tobacco and smoking it. IME bowl coating don't taste bad.
Stanwell make fine pipes.

I don't have any complaints about my Stanwell and didn't notice any ghosting or ghost-like issue when it was new. It is a nice pipe that I smoke regularly and is a good sturdy tool for outdoor use.

I have several of the current Stawells made in Italy, and I have never gotten any residual flavor off of them, no ghosts. I have many Savinelli pipes, and Rossi made by Savinelli. I find Stanwells comparable in quality, a little more open draw, no filtering system, so no need for adaptors. In the lower price ranges, the two brands deliver good durable use and a good smoking. Disclaimer: I am an adaptable smoker and like many different brands and styles of pipe. Some members are more particular and don't like one or either of these brands at all. I've found these pipes to be good work horse briars.

I have some Stanwells. They are flawless smokers the lot of them. They all tasted well from the start. Even those from the cheap Royal Guard series. I highly recommend them.

Some of this concept may come from the fact that many bowl coatings use a food-based adhesive to get the carbon to stick to the walls, like yogurt, gelatin, among other things. That said, I have a number of newer Stanwells and I haven't noticed any off-flavors when breaking one in. Whatever they're using tastes neutral in the pipes I own.

Three Stanwell’s here and no problems IMO they smoke as well as anything, the cheapest one i Have is a Featherweight and it smokes well above it’s pri point. I’ve had these long enough that I don’t remember if the coating hab a funky taste or not.

I have 4 Stanwells, they all smoked great right from the start. Buy one and smoke it, don't waste your time worrying about a coating.

I have several Stanwell pipes and I have never had an issue with the bowl coating and imparting any taste to the smoke. Of course my taste buds are tone deaf. :puffy:

If you're truly worried about bowl coating, you could consider buying a Stanwell Authentic, which is unfinished briar. I have one which I love, and it came with no bowl coating.

I don't have any Stanwells but have broken in many pipes with a coating. I've found it to be a non event. Regardless of coating or not, it takes a few smokes to break a pipe in to where it is smoking optimally. Don't over think it.

My last two new pipes both came with a carbonized bowl. They were more enjoyable to smoke right off the bat than bowls that come with only wood exposed. In non-carbonized bowls, you'll experience some unpleasant (to me) woody taste along with your first ten or so bowls. The carbonized bowls gave no residual taste to the tobacco.
