I was looking at different tobacco and pipe sites based in the UK when i saw a Barling Meerschaum on 1 site i loked at. I phoned them up to see if i could order 1 and to my suprise they didn't have any and can't get them anymore. I have looked at other sites and 1 of them only ship in the US. The highest i'm prepared to pay is £80 max before shipping costs are added, does anyone know where i can get a large bowl meer from or a large bowl briar both to be full bent for the same price. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I never smoked a meer, is this a good one to start with? What are the downsides?
I noticed this vendor is from Turkey, is he a reliable? (assume it wouldn't have been posted if not, but just checking)

Meers are great pipes and that would be a great one to start with. The downsides are that they are more fragile than a briar pipe, and coloration isn't guaranteed to be uniform. The upsides are that they will color with time and smoking, they smoke really cool and the more you smoke them, the more flavorings are added to each smoke. This has been from my experience. I don't smoke my meers as often as I probably should, but when I do, I'm always pleasantly rewarded.

I really enjoy my meerschaum pipes. Some are funky figurals(including a totally pornographic one) but most are plain smooth pipes that smoke well and look OH SO neat!

When i smoke my meer i think it gives a smoother creamier kind of smoke they also don't need the burning in process that briars do just fill and smoke from day 1. Mine is seriously black inside and has started going a creamy yellow colour on the outside. I haven't smoked it for a while maybe i should.
