I honestly think that these kind of things heavily depends on my mood. If I am annoyed or angry it feels like a lot of my smokes are bad but if the weather is nice, my mood is nice, and I'm sitting comfortably, everything works. Maybe because you're relaxed and patient instead of rushing things, but all I know is that when stars align everything just works.

Yes. FVF in a cob legend. I was building a chair and not really thinking about pipe when suddenly the pipe was amazing! I just stopped everything and enjoyed about an hour of bliss. Never repeated that yet ?
But been close often ?

So true. And it always surprises me because those special bowls usually happen when it dawns on me "I'm really enjoying this! Why hasn't this gone out yet?" and it turns out to be a delightful, extra long smoke!

As far as those Amazing Smokes, almost every one I’ve experienced, —I’m almost embarrassed to say, has involved a bowl of Granger.

I’ve tried to recreate it with pipe and moment. I’ve come to the conclusion that these especially tasty bowls will indiscriminately come and go as they please. When they want and where.

On edit. Barking Dog also gave me one of those great smokes. One where you lean back, slowly exhale and realize you’re smiling involuntarily. But Granger, approached with a fresh pallet, always tastes great to me and there’s an underlying expectation of that next Amazing smoke. —so perhaps a prior experience has much to do with it.

Great Article! I’ve enjoy many blissful bowls of Vintage GLP Abingdon and Drucquer’s 805 over the years. I’ve seen some of Brian’s Quaint’s, they are truly amazing pieces!
