I just poked around the Cornell and Diehl website and saw that they released the details about the new G.L. Pease blend Sextant. Dont know if anyone has read much about this but here is the excerpt from Cornell and Diehl:
GL Pease "Old London" Series, Sextant is a classic mixture harmoniously married to a Navy Flake. Ripe Virginia tobaccos are first blended with Cyprian Latakia, fine Orientals, and a touch of dark fired Kentucky leaf, then infused with a hint of dark rum before being gently pressed, matured and sliced. The flavour is rich, bold and satisfying, the aroma an enchanting interweaving of traditions.
Again, I dont know if anyone on here already knew this, but any time I hear "G.L. Pease" and "Navy Flake" in the same sentence, my mouth starts to water. I really hope to get my hands on a tin of this when it hits the store shelves.

P&C is taking pre-orders for the GLP, and C&D blends now.
I also saw something about a new C&D blend on their site too but I forget what it was called. I remember that it was an English that sounded pretty damn good, so Ill have to keep an eye out for that as well.

So, what's the take on this tobacco? There was so much buzz about when it was announced and then more when it was stocked. Now that it's been smoked, any thoughts?

GL's Sextant hit all the right tones IMHO, perfect balance...
C&D's new blend called Crooked Lane is also a favorite of mine,

again a well balanced blend , IMO - with complex English blends,

smoke'em in a shallow/wide bowl (Pots) to really make the blend sing

I stocked up on Sextant at the Chicago Show. You guys are in for a treat, it's a most delicious blend of tobacco. It can use a little drying time IMO but still smokes well right out of the tin. I personally don't taste the rum, just like most of Navy Flake blends, but it certainly smoothes out the smoke. This and Barbary Coast are the only 2 Pease blends that I can truly enjoy. Hope you all find it to your liking.
