Hi all, I have a newly acquired Deluxe System pipe from 1979. Unfortunately, it came without the condenser piece. There are threads in the stem for one. IMG_9933.jpeg

I don’t have an opinion on whether these improve the smoking experience or not, but would like the pipe to be “complete”. I’ve browsed a few other posts here about it and saw suggestions to email Peterson about getting a replacement. The rep that replied to me said that it would unfortunately not be possible, since the condenser dimensions have changed multiple times over the years. I can only speculate that they don’t have any on hand.

I’d like to assess any other options at my disposal for getting a replacement condenser in this pipe. The current run of Deluxe System Pipes have much smaller condensers, which do not fit.

TIA

these are probably the smaller ones you already found.
Yeah, I bought one of these and they’re smaller. I think Peterson’s current run of deluxe pipes have a narrower tenon as compared to this ‘79.

well I have a system spigot, that little part is buil into the stem design for cost savings.. but I also have an army filter pipe.

And the filter acts as a condensor.

Could try just finding a thin piece of plastic, cutting it to size and making a tube out of it. Paper as well.

Yeah, no.
The condenser drops the stem’s airway below the fire hole in the reservoir, a feature that was molded into stem on some lines, but threaded on many, and somewhere along the line only on the Deluxe and Premier systems.
Many smokers over the years thought they were a gimmick like most “stingers” and removed them not realizing they're a design feature of the system on the pipes that had them.
