Deep Cleaning Bamboo

Hi everyone,
How do you deep clean bamboo shank pipes?

I have a few (for a few years) and i have never deep cleaned them.

I do remove the cake if needed and go with a pipe cleaner and alcohol through the shank.
For my other pipes i always give salt bathes, but i don't know if the bamboo will be damaged due to all the liquid.

Can i just do salt bathes?

And what are the other deep cleaning methods you guys know?

I wouldn't recommend soaking the bamboo in anything for a long amount of time. It absorbs a lot of moisture, I'm afraid you would run the risk of discoloring the bamboo permanently or having it swell up out of shape, or crack when it dries back out. I don't have any experience with these issues, this is just some problems I could see happening.

If you do salt and alcohol in the bowl, I would put just enough alcohol in to barely get the salt wet and let that dry before adding any more.
