I was wondering if anyone in the Wilmington area knew anything about this b&m? I'm currently on vacation at Holden Beach, will be heading to Wilmington tomorrow and was looking for some input on this company. From what I am seeing, they are the only shop dedicated to pipes. I saw a couple other stores, but they seem to be cigar shops who 'also carry pipes'. Am I correct in this assumption?

I live on the other side of the state so it's been a while since I was there. It's a great place though.I bought 2 Ben Wades and an Upshall there. My wife doesn't want me to go back.I'm gonna get around that though by taking her to the beach.

I was there in July while vacationing in NC. It's a nice, friendly well-stocked shop and definitely worth a visit. It's not a cigar shop with pipes, but the other way around. Davis is also a tobacco blender. I tried more than a few of his aromatics and they're not to my liking (Boswell rules in the aromatic world in my view), but two of his Latakia blends are pretty good: Trafalgar's mixture and Round Midnight. Anyway, I went there just to look around and came away with a new Savinelli. He has a nice selection of pipes from basket-priced ones up through those costing several hundred dollars.

I should have posted this a few days ago, but the trouble I went through with the original post on my Xoom, I decided to wait til I got back home from vacation and had an actual keyboard. That being said.......
I was extremely impressed with Davis and Son. Upon walking in I was greeted with a smile from the owners wife right away and told to browse to my hearts content. Once I made it know that I've only been smoking for just under a year, Tim, the owner, started feeding me with all kinds of information and took the time to answer ever single question I had in depth. So much so that when I was leaving, SWMBO said 'Do you realize the two of you were talking for almost 2 hours'. Which I hadn't, it only felt like a half hour or so. And all the credit in the world goes to that patient woman for never once trying to hurry me or even give me 'the look'.
Tim took the time to explain about the different kinds of tobacco, how to tell the difference between pipes. What not to do so I could avoid burn outs and on and on. I felt like a family member by the time I left the store.
I ended up buying a Savinelli Duca Carlo straight apple and 3 blends of baccy from him. And yes, radio807, one of them was Trafalgar's. I told him I'm in love with Frog Morton and Latakia and he immediatly pointed me to that blend. I also picked up one of his blends called 'Olde Brunswick' which he recomends to every new pipesmoker. If I remember correctly, he said is a basic blend of burley and cavendish. I also picked up a blend called Marzipan, a very delicious smelling cherry.
I have yet to smoke any of it yet because I wasn't confident with my skills enough to smoke on a windy beach yet. But I'm about to light up a bowl of the Olde Brunswick in just a few moment.
For anyone near Wilmington, NC or those who will be headed somewhere near there, I highly encourage you to check this store out.
