Prehistoric man developed weapons of greater and greater ranger to be able to hunt these animals from greater and greater distances culminating in Buffalo Bill Cody eradicating millions of em for their fur with a long barrel Sharps rolling block from 200 yards away. What did people for thousands of years know that these dummies don't? Well they knew that the soft squishy human body is no match for a shaggy 1 ton horned quadruped with a penchant for goring. But fear not, the gene pool will be just little less murky without their DNA in it. Yellowstone has been an Idiot show for 100 years, from people trying to go for a swim in boiling sulfur springs, to dumdums trying to pet bears. The buffalo photo op problem has been around since the polaroid.

Administering national park passes to our less than intelligent denizens could be a form of eugenics.

Eugenics/eugenicists come in all shapes and sizes. Today I learned National Park Rangers are one example. Whoda thunk it.

Nice to see the buffalo avenging the thoughtless slaughter of millions of his ancestors who were used as target practice by early settlers.

Back in the day they would stop a train mid journey over the plains just so passengers could take pot shots at them for no other reason than they just could. Perhaps those getting gored are descendants of those folk.

Regards,

Jay.

Check out Timothy Treadwell's story. Dude went to Alaska to live among some of the most deadly bears, grizzies. In the documentary, Grizzly Man, they suggested that the bears didn't eat him right away, because they may have thought he was sick or mental. But, then they did eat him. It's a good flick.

These buffalo may sense that these tourist taking selfies may be sick or sense their narcissism. Anyways, I am not going to lose any sleep over an idiot that gets killed by a wild animal because of their mental issues. The punishment is the crime. Like pissing on an electric fence... let them.

A business acquaintance I once knew was, to my mind, the hole of someone's ass. Then he sent me photos of his family on vacation, several of which depicted him standing directly in front of a silverback gorilla. Instantly, upon viewing these, my opinion of the man changed. I now regarded him as incredibly intelligent, brave, and possessed of a Hollywood leading man handsomeness I hadn't noticed before.

Imagine my chagrin when I later learned that he had been torn apart by a gorilla in a zoo somewhere in Botswana, or some damn place. Those photos, it dawned on me, were the last ever taken of this fine man, barring the ones taken at the morgue. Had he lived, I was thinking, he could have been the next president of the United States.

My then-girlfriend and I were in the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park a while back. We'd pulled over when I spotted a bear near the edge of a wooded area. We stayed in the car watching, and shortly thereafter a car pulled up behind us. That family piled out and started to make a bee-line for the bear. I started the car and got out of there as quickly as I could. When asked why we were leaving. I told her, "I don't want to see what happens next, and neither do you."

Aside from the risks of being so close to such a formidable beast, I'm bothered that some people find enjoyment annoying these magnificent creatures.

As @Servant King alluded,
All for the selfies and meaningless currency of social media clout.
It's all anyone seems to care about anymore. The only question is, how far can people separate themselves from reality before the very fabric of the Universe implodes and the whole show comes to an it's-about-damn-time end. 🤔

I feel weird even saying the word "selfie." Like, kind of dirty, actually. I need to do as Homer did, and I don't mean the author...
