A long while back I posted a photo of a tamp which is used for making espresso and commented how cool it would be to have the same design scaled to size for a pipe. It seemed unlikely because it would require the machining of steel, something I can't do. Well, a fellow forum member reached out and sent me the metal portion at no cost. He machines it perfectly, exactly like the espresso tamp, scaled to size. I then sent the metal portion to Michael Parks so that he could make the briar portion, matched to a commissioned pipe he was working on. So, here we have the finished tamp, made with steel, briar, and wooly mammoth ivory. It's a VERY special tamp that wouldn't exist if not for a fellow forum members generosity.
