As I have been scouting around for the pipe Lee Van Cleef smoked in For a Few Dollars More, I said to myself, Self- maybe some pipe maker out there can make me a reproduction. So my question to the forum is, does anybody know of a custom pipe maker that could make one of these?

The pipe from " A Few Dollars more" looks to be meerschaum. These folks could probably whip you up one from a decent picture.

Thanks unclearthur. I sent them a message and I will let the forum know what they say. If anybody else has any suggestions, I all ears. It would be nice to get a few bids.

I saw that post too, Paul. It is inaccurate . The stem could also have been amber or horn. None of the three items mentioned were commonly used for stems.

Wow, this went quick. I have been emailing back and forth with altinokmeerschaumpipes.com and they can make a replica. Says he can even have it colored the same. Cost is $119.95, $15 for coloring, and $15 shipping. Takes him about 3 weeks to make. Sooooo, I ordered one. Thanks unclearthur for the suggestion

Yes I did. He has seen the pictures and understands I want the exact replica. Says he will do his best. Now for the bummer part: Im having it shipped to my home in Washington so I wont see it til I get home on mid-tour leave in February. I would have it shipped here but sometimes the mail gets handled roughly or is stolen and I dont want to take any chances.

I will certainly post some pictures of it in February. Oh the waiting though.... brutal.

I just found one of these pipes on ebay. Its an original one, not the Altinok reproduction.
The splotchy coloring, was made that way, the pipes looked like that when new, the black toasting around the rim also is there when they are new. The brand that made them is Vienna Meerschaum. They made several styles with that finish, I have seen billiards, apples, and pots with the exact same finish. After watching ebay for over a year, one like Lee used in the movie finally showed up. I won the bidding, and am totally jazzed to get it after such a long search.

I haven't received it yet, I just won the bidding on it today. Those pictures are from the auction pics.

As far as I know, the pipe Van Cleef used was not so old, maybe from the 1950's? Also, I think the stem is bakelite. Will see how it is when it arrives.
I looked at the Storient website, very nice!

I don't see any pictures there of the replica van cleef pipe you said you guys made.
I'll definitely add you to my list of shops the next time I'm in the market for a new meerschaum.

I know the briar pipe he smoked in the good the bad and the ugly was a WDC Wellington.
As for the meer, this vienna one is such a perfect match, even if the imdb claimed he had a WDC Meer, I wouldn't believe it. I have seen a lot of WDC meer pipes in my researches, and never saw one like this.
I wish I could tell for sure how old the pipe was, I'm guessing 1950's, but your right, it could be a lot older. As for amberoid, you could definitely be right on that one.
I appreciate all your input on this, thank you. These old pipes can be one hell of a mystery, especially the meerschaums that have no makers marks and no dates. If this pipe ends up being as old as you suspect it is, than wow, its even more of a treasure than I expected. :)

Beautiful pipe there! I love the ones with the horse theme.
I have made some video's on youtube that show my other pipes.

Since your showing a few, you can see the ones I have.
This one shows the first three meers I got:
