I posted this in another thread, but the thread is so long that I'm sure some people will miss it. I think it's important to know if you are going to read or write any tobacco reviews.
On TobaccoReviews.com - what I really find interesting is that I have never heard anyone criticize that they list a "Curing Group".
This pretty much makes no sense, and it's likely that more than 90% of the designations are wrong.
Here's why:
There are very few blends that actually contain tobaccos that are all from one curing group.
Virginia = Flue Cured

Perique = Air cured, then fermented

Latakia = Sun cured, then smoked

Orientals = Sun cured

Burley = Air cured
[Note: Perique is in the Burley family, and Latakia is an Oriental.]
[Also: My site http://luxurytobaccoreviews.com/ also has tobacco listing with a Curing Group designation. That was from two years ago before I knew better.]

I've always thought that the Curing Group portion of TR.com was weird. Thanks for the info!

I love learning about tobacco. Many people don't realize that there can be so much to know about it ... if they happen to be into that. Some people just want to smoke it, but I like knowing the details.

A common question/difficulty that the inexperienced pipe smoker may have is the inability to discern the flavors, nuances, and differences between tobaccos.

That may be at the root of the tendency of New Pipe Smokers to gravitate toward Aromatics.

I know I enjoyed English blends on occasion but tended to indulge in the jars on the counter... in other words... Aromatics. I love the taste of Paladin Black Cherry, and Lane Ltd. 1Q, and others.

It wasn't until I began to understand the various tobacco types, the curing processes involved, and fundamental characteristics.

Luxury Tobacco Reviews.com is a great place to start that journey into the mysteries o' the leaf.
