Does anyone own one of these brands? Are they referred to as something else? I’ve seen the tidbit on pipedia, but don’t know too much else. Just picked it up for $35.

Al Perkowski, Creative Briars.

A pipe maker who has been at it for decades. I don’t think he did a large number of pipes per year, but he had some real skill at shaping. Was a wood model maker for GM.

He had a website up up until a few years ago. I haven’t seen any new product from him lately. He is listed on a few pipe vendor sites, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be active.

You stole that pipe at $ 35...

I have one of his pipes, a rather elaborate rendition of a German wine pipe that was commissioned for somebody else who used to be active on this site, and sold it because he gave up smoking.

This place is becoming less a pipe forum and more a subsidiary of a porn site.

Bo Nordh created the shape in the early 2000s but got the name "Ramses" thanks to a German customer visiting him. This customer immediately associated the pipe with the statue of Ramses II in Abu Simbel and Bo was immediately enthusiastic.

When I was in Egypt and saw the real Ramsey it was pretty freaking cool. This style of pipe has no relation in my opinion to the man himself.. Maybe I am missing something but if the beard is supposed to be the connecting factor, it doesn't work for me.. I also see most Ramses made to be a pretty heavy pipe which is not my thing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. When no one was looking I grabbed a hunk of toe cheese from Ramses and still have it today. I can sell pieces if anyone is interested. It still stinks which is a plus.
