I possibly have a new but damaged pipe, for more information you can check out my cracked Brigham thread. Long story short I ordered this pipe, it's unused but cracked and disgusting and the shank doesn't sit flush against the stem, but the stem still feels fairly snug considering. I think ill bend the stem with hot water to sit flush.
As for the shank I'm tempted to very slightly pry it and use some crazy glue. What do you think?

These pipes are i think 60 something in American dollars, and I've been refunded for the pipe and I'm thinking it might be abandoned with me, so I have nothing to lose. I don't want to spend a bunch of money, but I'd like to make it work.

I'd make sure the pipe is abandoned to you before fiddling with it.

I'm glad to hear the seller reimbursed you for your purchase. Repairing a cracked shank can be as easy as super glue and briar dust being spread in the crack and allowing to set. In more severe cases I've silver or metal bands being fitted around the crack.

Yeah I would wait longer before touching it. What if you attempt to repair it, and then something happens. And then they want it back??

The seller didn't reimburse me actually, it was ebay, I opened a claim case with ebay because the seller wasn't refunding me or answering me, ebay decided in my favour after a few days and then reimbursed me and closed the case, though I'll still wait longer just to be safe.

The problem with having the band insurance is the ship it to a repairman and back plus the labour it might cost more than the pipe costs. What does it usually cost for a band to be installed?
