Purchased a 13 tin from EricusRuss and got a fresh tin from SmokingPipes. Smoked about half the tin of the fresh. It was so different from my Balkans, Englishes, Vapers, etc, that I was taken aback on the first bowl. But persisence helped me appreciate the Kendal blend and I was enjoying it by mid-tin.
Decided to crack the tin this morning and smoked it on the way to see my doctor for eye surgery. I'm happy I took the time to smoke the blend fresh because it really helped me appreciate what aging can do for a tobacco. I really wasn't expecting how much smoother, mellow and thick the aged tobacco was in comparison.
I paid a little over twice the retail for the 13 year old stash and it was a bargain. I think I'll be hunting down some other aged tobaccos. If anyone has any stashed and want to thin the herd, I'm in the market.
Thanks Eric.

You should post some pics and show us a comparison of the coloration of the fresh verses the aged. Aged tobacco is a treat as I experienced not too long ago by smoking an aged tin of Escudo.

You're welcome, Brass!
I love the stuff! I don't know why the description calls this a Lakeland. It certainly ain't no Ennerdale! I don't get any of that urinal cake smell and soapy taste from it. But I've only had the aged version. Maybe the fresh tin is more floral? I put it somewhere between FVF and 1792 flake in flavor. It highly recommend that anyone open to lightly-flavored flakes give this under-the-radar baccy a try.
Sorry folks, I'm not selling any more of my stash!

Sounds excellent and I will agree that double retail value is a steal for a 13 year old tin. Enjoy. :puffy:

Apparently the aging really mutes the flavoring. I'm quite familiar with the Lakelands and Kendal Creme is without a doubt a Lakeland. When fresh, the flavoring is very pronounced, on par in strength with, say, Bosun Cut Plug or Coniston but not as strongly flavored as Ennerdale. I've heard that aging causes the Lakeland flavoring to dissipate, but I've never let any age long enough to find out for myself.
