So Ive had this pipe for a few months, it smokes beautifully, cool smoke, but the bowl can get uncomfortably hot (I figure its cause I have not built that much cake on it yet), this does not happen with most my other pipes. Today I found this crack on it, it appears to just be on the outside and just a surface level crack. I wanted to know if this could cause me any problems in the future? ThanksIMG_7312.jpeg

I dont have any definite answer but its a bummer. I like dublins but they can quickly get a bit warm right in that area. I shy away from them unless they have extra meat.

There are threads on this forum regarding filling and repairing cracks and pits; use the search bar above for further research. It appears to be a grain discoloration rather than an actual crack (to my eyes).. Smoke slower and monitor the situation, You could also send it to someone to repair.

I actually like some surface level knots in the wood of my pipes, ads character. Some pipes smoke hotter than others for mysterious reasons…
