The selection of pipes in my country is very, very limited.

This baby came up in the local online store, and since I don't have any hand made pipes, had to have it.
It's unbranded, and the shape is very strange.

The description from the store says it's from an artisan they met at the Chicago Pipe Show, and this is from his second line, so it's unnamed.
So far is a nice smoker.
Any details would be appreciated.

Can't say for sure, given that it is in fact not stamped. But a few shops and makers have distinct lines of cheaper pipes than the high-grades. Smoker's Haven sells "Buckeye" pipes for example that they make themselves. but usually these are stamped.
An oversight? Certainly possible. Or maybe some maker just didn't like the pipe enough to put his name on it for some reason.

Thank you.
I'm more interested in the curious shape. I belive it's called eskimo? What's the story behind that shape?

I know the maker. It’s called “Crappy pipes” the husband of Scottie Piersel makes them. I have a billiard I bought in Chicago. New they are about $50. Great pipe for the money. Check out their website. None of the pipes are graded...or seconds.

I agree with Duane's eye; it looks like a squashed tomato to me as well. I believe an Eskimo has more of a flying-saucer disc shape to the bowl, and a wide, flattened shank.

Not sure how I feel about a crappy pipe shaped liked a tomato...

But joking aside, it's a short and sweet smoker.
Truly excellent hound job, thank you very much. :puffpipe: :worship:

The website sure leaves a lot to be desired. No info about the owner, the pipes, condition, who, what, when, where, why. In this day and age it's pretty inexcusable. I wouldn't trust buying anything from anyone who can't provide at least their name and info on what they're selling. Way too many other options.

I guess you're talking about the "crappy" website? LOL.
They really started as a joke. The guy made some and people really liked them. So, now he makes and sells them. As I mentioned his wife is renowned pipe maker Scottie Piersel and they are fantastic people. I wouldn't be worried about ordering from them.

Yes, the Crappy website which is, pretty crappy as far as websites go. Lol. I'm in the IT industry and have designed websites, so I suppose I'm more picky than others. But it was the lack of info more than anything. Judging by the home page photo, I did figure it wasn't necessarily a serious venture.
Thanks for the info!

Extra showy grain and a real visual pleaser, with the bright stain and stem. If someone quoted me a price well in the hundreds, I'd believe it, though I wouldn't buy it. As a smoker, it looks pretty front-heavy, and not being all that bent, all that weight is going to pull on your teeth and jaw. But for holding, it's quite a pipe, a nice one. I have a few in that league, front-loaded and fairly heavy, but for a long deliberative seated smoke, they do nicely.
