Just found out Missouri Meerschaum Company ships to my country, or so it seems.

I've always been intrigued by cobs, and I plan to make a big purchase (10 or more).

Problem is, I don't know a thing about them, and there are so many options. If you could help me, I'd be very grateful.
I prefer big bowls, don't have a preference about bent or straight, never smoke aros.

Another thing, most of them seem to use a filter. I'm not too crazy about that. (at least in theory, I've never smoked a cob).

Their Cobbit churchwardens don't have filters.

Aside of that, General and Freehand are their largest models.

The large majority of smokers don't use filters with corn cobs, it's not really an issue.

The Country Gentleman is a popular one. You could hit Old Log Cabin Pipe Works up for some forever stems if you want a nicer stem to go with it. I've tried a number of MM cobs and have stuck with the Missouri Pride, but I like a lighter smaller pipe. The 5th Avenue is also a nice larger sized option.

Since I'm new to cobs (and to pipes, actually) I'm very open to any good advice.

I do prefer big bowls, mostly because I tend to smoke on the fast side, but if there's a great pipe with a smaller bowl, I'll hit that.

It might be wise to buy 1 or 2 to see if you like cobs before making a big investment. Missouri Meerschaum sells them 10 to a bag for around $30.00, but most of them are Legends with maybe a larger one or two in the bag.

Generals are nice for a longer smoke. I just throw the filters away and enjoy the nice open draw.

You can't really go wrong with Missour Meerschaums, only thing that matters is your preference.

True. But since I'm already paying a very expensive shipping, I'd rather milk it.

My favorite MM cob model is the Mark Twain, with the Country Gentleman coming in a close second. Both are intended for use with filters, but I don't care much for filters, and find the draw of them to be perfect with no filter in place.

I have quite a few MM cob pipes.

The Freehand and the General are huge.

The good sized pipes I like are the Country Gentleman, Mark Twain, and Diplomat 5th Avenue.

The Legend and Washington pipes are a smaller than those but still nicely sized.
I have Elf Cobbit and it is about same as Mark Twain, maybe a scosche bigger.
I have several of the small cobs but I rarely use them...my tamper is too big for them.

Looking good so far.

My cart:

1 The "Wizard" Cobbit

1 General(Bent)

1 Freehand (Natural White)

1 Country Gentleman (Straight)

1 Missouri Pride (Straight)

1 Diplomat (5th Avenue, Bent)

1 Mark Twain (Bent)

1 Marcus

1 Little Devil Cutty

1 Legend (Flat, Straight)

1 Washington (5th Avenue, Bent)
That's as far as I can go, moneywise. Any final advice before I close the deal?

I have a couple of Legends, a couple of Washingtons, a couple of Missouri Prides, a Mark Twain and a Country Gentleman. The Country Gent is definitely my favorite and bigger than the others, with the Mark Twain being next. The Legends and Washingtons are also nice pipes - probably medium sized bowls and nice little smokers. I take those on camping trips and sometimes smoke them when doing yard work.

Filter not required, they smoke great with or without, the Country Gentleman and Legend are great to start with, Mark Twain and the Freehand have the largest bowls
hat you have in your cart looks great, you may just want to get a grab bag and sample each one to find what you really prefer, but $50 US will get you alot of MM pleasure, Im sure you wont be disappointed

I would order extra bits - they cost about 60-80 cents. I have chewed through the plastic ones they come with fairly quickly i.e., within the month. The bit that fits the danish is cool looking and will fit other filtered pipes as well.

+1 on that, dogmoby. I run Danish bits on all of my MMs now. It's a fifty cent upgrade that makes a million dollars worth of difference, in my opinion.

I'm a holder. Can't clench for the life of me.
Anyway, I've placed the order already. But under "Status" it says "Suspected Fraud"

I like to get straight stems and bend them with a lighter

I buy the cob pipes with straight stems, but I stick bent bits in them.
