I've neglected burning in my pipes, so I have a fair amount of cake around the top 2/3s of the bowl, and hardly any on the bottom.
I don't smoke a pipe all the time, but when I have a 'session' I normally smoke the same one all evening. So, I am trying to build up some cake on the bottom of my favourite pipe first. Will it work if I have 5-6 half full bowls in a row, or am I better off letting it rest a few days in-between each bowl?
I have a feeling, I will get an answer saying 'no shortcuts!' :)
Thank you

I would try smoking it to the bottom to get an even cake, then let it rest and cool, clean it, and let it air out and dry a few hours before smoking again. I think better to have other pipes you can switch off to rather than oversmoke one pipe.
If you are having bad results smoking a bowl to the bottom, you might try another tobacco or experiment with how you are packing it. You might be packing it too tight.

I smoke a pipe, talking briers now, four or five times in a day, run a cleaner through it and then it sits for a week or so until its turn arises. No particular reason for the rest time, I have sufficient pipes to do so. I do feel that after a days use, my pipes do better with at least a days sitting. I've not experienced a foul or bitter bowl in many years.
