So I've been smoking Captain Black Gold in my pipe.I rather like it and its one of the few pipe tobaccos available in my area. But tonight on my way home I stopped and picked up another pouch.Excited to crack a fresh pouch and smoke a fresh bowl. But when I opened the pouch right away I noticed that the aroma was very very faint in comparison to the previous pouches I had bought. It was bland.Smelt just like plain Virginia like you would roll a cigarette with. And as for flavor there was none. And were I am up in Canada I pay double what the pouch is worth to start with.So to me this is not in any way acceptable.I want some sort of compensation for this. But there is no telephone number on the pouch and no mailing address.I tried find them online but couldn't find their site.So does anyone have any suggestions?Any way to contact Lane? Anything would be great. As always happy smoking and thanks! :puffy:

The Interwebs
Lane is definitely no fly-by-night operation; it makes more sense to just return it to the point of purchase for a replacement / refund. If you want more satisfaction, I'd recommend speaking with the manager and letting him know he's got an avid pipe-smoking customer who will be making many future purchases, along with all of his local friends. Explained in a friendly demeanor this generally garners decent results. Stock can sit on shelves and be abused in so many ways in retail it's not worth driving yourself nuts over.

On the other hand, I've been known to contemplate major tactical strikes against annoying corporations in my spare time. The real trick here is choosing your battles. Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you all for your input. When I wrote the post I was rather upset so wasn't thinking as clearly as I normally do.My only concern with taking it back for a refund is that the place of purchase at a local family run corner store. The service is poor and they seem to care not about customer satisfaction. The only reason I buy from there is because they are the only place in my city that has any pipe tobacco.

That being said I appreciate the input and will certainly give your suggestions a try.

Thanks again and happy smoking! :puffy:

The local stores stock probably doesn't rotate that often......hence the original problem.

Thank you so very much cacooper! That is very useful info for me. I will give them a call later tonight or tomorrow perhaps.

This is very good as I tried to refund/exchange at the store to no avail.Apparently they REALLY dont care as long as they get cash. :? So I will treat it as a defective case of beer and contact the company specifically.

Again thanks to everyone your a great group. 8)

Thanks and happy smoking! :puffy:

Try putting it in a tin and adding a moisturizing coin for a day or so (if it is dry).

I used to tape the business reply things to boxes with bricks in them, marmal4de. It was always hilarious to send 'em out. I can just imagine the companies, "What the hell? Is this a BRICK?!"
