Congratulations Tony Kanaan - A Touching Story

He flew to Methodist Hospital on the eve of the 500 to give his good luck medal to a little girl having brain surgery nine years ago. It turns out she over-nighted that medal back to him for good luck yesterday. After 11 unsuccessful attempts and a lot of heart break, Tony wins the Indianapolis 500!

I listened to the final 10 laps on the XM radio, that was a little underwhelming with those two cautions. TK seems like a very popular driver and I had not heard that story, that is very cool - thanks for sharing!

It was an exciting race to watch and I am glad that TK won; however, I wish that the race would have finished under the green flag. It would have been an even better win for him.
I do hope that he is able to fly home to see his boy as he promised him he would do if he ever one the Indy 500. I really hope that his team owner makes sure that he has a day or two off so that he can take care of the promise he made. Unfortunately, I fear that the media tour that he will have to go on is going to get in the way.
It was awesome to see the good luck medal in the winners circle.
