Wow, good score!
Looks to be in mint condition.
Were you in Roswell Ga.?
I grew up in Clarkston, right by Decatur, and I'd often ride out to the Roswell area to go to the junk shops and antique malls, a great area for finding treasures.
btw
I was looking thru your posts, and you are a lucky man indeed!
What really grabbed my eye was on an estate sale score you made,
which had a Stanwell Golden Contrast 63,
http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/estate-sale-findfinally
...do you still have that pipe?
If you'd be willing to sell/trade, shoot me a pm
The Golden Contrast was a short-lived series, because it was so difficult and time-consuming to produce, it was made when Tom Eltang was still working for Stanwell and he oversaw the production of these pipes, it was his staining technique that they were using, I've read in a couple of places that Eltang actually finished the pipes himself.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask, I love the 63 shape but have never found a GC.
The one in your pic looks beautiful.
They often have vulcanite stems, and they also havr the cool inlay S-crown.
